Yuksom, located in the West Sikkim district, is regarded as the “first village” of Sikkim. Historically significant, it is where the first King of Sikkim, Phuntsog Namgyal, was crowned in 1642, making it an important cultural and historical site. The village, situated at an elevation of about 1,780 meters (5,840 feet), is surrounded by lush forests and offers stunning views of the Kanchenjunga range.
